Sarah Farina sprinkles positivity over the darkest bass. As a Berlin-based DJ, music producer, curator and community organiser, she has spent 15+ years exploring the places where music, culture and people meet, guided by intuition, an unwavering devotion to her craft.

Her style is genre-fluid, fearless and full of colour: seamlessly blending bass-heavy frequencies, eclectic club tracks, house, techno, jungle, and the hardcore continuum. She calls it RainbowBass, a playful ethos celebrating connection across genres and cultures. Led by the early releases of Missy Elliott, Aphex Twin and J Dilla into the clubs of Berlin, Sarah’s sets are shaped by instinct, moving freely between moods, tempos and sonic universes.

Over the years, this has taken her to clubs like Berghain, Drumsheds, and Open Ground, as well as global festivals including MUTEK Montréal, Montreux Jazz Festival, Nyege Nyege, Fusion, and Nuits Sonores, alongside appearances on Boiler Room, ARTE Concert, and Bangkok’s TukTuk Radio. Along the way, she has shared line-ups with artists including DJ Rashad (RIP), DJ Storm, Laurent Garnier, Kode9, Underground Resistance, Bicep, Jlin, François K, Mala, and Tatjana Jane.

Beyond DJing, her catalog includes tracks and remixes connected to Teklife, Monkeytown Records, Céad, and Black Artist Database, featuring collaborations with Modeselektor, dBridge, Pura Pura, and LUZ1E. Her artistic practice also extends into commissioned compositions, film scores, campaigns, and sound identities.

For Sarah, music is also a way of creating spaces to listen, learn and exchange. She co-founded Emergent Bass, an interdisciplinary Berlin event series exploring the cultural contexts and Afro-diasporic roots of underground dance music. With Dr. Kerstin Meißner, she runs Transmission, a care collective exploring the political dimensions of international rave culture.

Her educational work takes this same spirit far beyond the booth. Sarah has hosted DJ and music production workshops worldwide, ranging from Rwanda and Uganda to Bangkok, Caracas, Detroit, and Alexandria, alongside guest lectures at various universities, such as Berlin’s University of the Arts.

Always rooted in joy and dialogue, her workshops create space to open up creative processes, share knowledge collaboratively, and invite deeper reflection on the music that brings us so much joy every day.
